Michael, Paige and Isaiah

Michael Rosas, 25, a Latino man, was shot at 11412 Maxine St. in Santa Fe Springs and died at 10:47 p.m. Sunday, May 27. He was found dead in the street. (Excerpt from Whittier Daily News). What the newspaper didn't report was that Michael was cowardly shot in the back, that NO witnesses came forward and that NO arrests had been made.

Michael leaves behind his finance Brandy Villarreal, four children: Isaiah Ezequiel (5 yrs.), Serena Paige (4 yrs.), Madison (3 yrs.), Michael Andrew, Jr. (6 mos.); Parents (John and Gloria); three sisters (Dolores, Victoria, Desiree); and four half-brothers (Anthony, Raymond, Benny and Johnny) who love him dearly!

Michael Rosas grew up in Norwalk, CA and attended Downey Calvary Chapel Christian School until the 8th grade.  Throughout his school years at Calvary Chapel he received numerous Awards, including Outstanding Citizenship Awards as well as being named on the Principal's Honor Roll.

Growing up he enjoyed and was active in sports activities.  He participated in the school football, basketball and soccor teams.  Michael also participated in the City of Norwalk sports programs, such as flag football, soccer and played T-ball through major league baseball.

Boxing Club

He then transferred to Lampton Middle School and was promoted to Norwalk High School where his peers voted him most popular. Michael was active in social clubs and was a member of the football team his freshman year, as well as, a member of the Norwalk Boxing Club through the Norwalk Complex Center.

Michael was known for his smile and willingness to help others. He was dedicated to his family and always concerned about their well-being.

Michael worked at Aire Filter Products for a short period of time and was immediatley known for his great smile and well liked by his peers.  Although he was very happy at Aire Filters, he needed to move on in order to earn a higher pay and to provide health insurance for his children.

God opened the doors through an Outreach Program known as "Angel Tree" where we first met Steve Flores.  Steve Flores connected with Michael and became a mentor and a role model to Michael. Steve was also instrumental in helping Michael secure work with the L.A. Mission-Clinic where again his warm smile welcomed those that were less fortunate.

He had just enrolled in trade school to pursue a career in plumbing to secure a future and earn an even higher paying job with benefits to support his family when his life was cut short.

Michael and Brandy on Junior's First Christmas

This picture was taken in December 2006.  Michael and Brandy with their son Michael, Jr.  (1 month old). Planning and starting a family together with a promising future.

"I'm Still Here" Friend, please don't mourn for me I'm still here, though you don't see. I'm right by your side each night and day and within your heart I long to stay. My body is gone but I'm always near. I'm everything you feel, see or hear. My spirit is free, but I'll never depart As long as you keep me alive in your heart. I'll never wander out of your sight- I'm the brightest star on a summer night. I'll never be beyond your reach- I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.

Michael here is a poem for you. The world may never notice if a snowdrop doesn't bloom, or even pause to wonder; if the petals fall too soon, but every life that ever forms; or ever comes to be, touches the world in some small way for all eternity. The little one we longed for was swiftly here and gone. But the love that was then planted is a light that still shines on. And though our arms are empty, our hearts know what to do. Every beating of our hearts says that we love you.

On behalf of the Rosas Family we would like to give a special thanks to all our family members and friends who demonstrated so much love in our time of sorrow. You have been a source of comfort and strength. Please continue to keep us and especially Michael's children in your prayers.
